Onchain data on May 13 shows that Avalanche, a DeFi-focused, high-performance blockchain, recorded over 2 million daily active addresses, an all-time high.

This surge points to growing community interest, which may also boost the prices of AVAX and some of the best cryptos to buy in 2025.
During this period, analysts noted that over 30 million contracts had been deployed across Avalanche’s layer-1 indexed chains as of early last week.
In April 2025 alone, 10 million contracts were deployed, signaling increased development and strong adoption.

While DeFi activity contributes to this growth, the surge in daily active addresses follows the launch of MapleStory N on Avalanche.
This crypto-enhanced version of the 2D MMORPG allows players to own and trade in-game assets on the blockchain.

Its debut coincided with a 5X surge in network usage, triggering the largest-ever NFT mint on Avalanche. Records show that over 1.7 million Scross NFTs were distributed for free.
As more gamers join, Avalanche’s network activity is expected to rise.
Additional games are anticipated, with Pixelmon partnering with Ava Labs to deploy Warden’s Ascent on Avalanche.

Avalanche Making Big DeFi Moves
Beyond gaming, Avalanche is making significant strides in DeFi.
Recently, Securitize announced the first DeFi integration of BUIDL on Avalanche via Euler, a lending platform.
Users can receive sBUIDL by locking BUIDL in the Securitize vault. The sBUIDL token is now available as collateral for borrowing USDC, AUSD, and other stablecoins on Euler. Re7 Labs will manage risk, while Merkl will handle incentivization.
Meanwhile, Solv Protocol, building a decentralized Bitcoin reserve via SolvBTC, partnered with Elixir, Euler, and Balancer to launch SolvBTC.AVAX, a yield-bearing BTC token on Avalanche.
SolvBTC.AVAX uses tokenized Treasuries to mint deUSD, loops it to increase exposure, and deploys it across Avalanche-based liquidity strategies.

This token utilizes idle Bitcoin, channeling tokenized U.S. Treasuries and structured DeFi strategies into a vault, enabling users to earn yields.
Yields are threefold, derived from AVAX incentives based on holdings, Elixir Potion points based on deUSD minted, and Solv Season 2 points based on vault participation.
Despite the surge in activity, AVAX prices are trending lower, reversing weekend gains. AVAX crypto is now trailing some of the best Solana meme coins.
