OpenSea, one of the largest non-fungible token market platforms, has successfully added support for the Abstract blockchain network. This integration now gives its crypto users a good chance to mint top Abstract-based NFT collections, including the Abstract Pepes and Abstract Punks NFT collections. The OpenSea NFT marketplace now supports nearly twenty blockchain networks on its platform.

Abstract NFTs Go Live On OpenSea Marketplace

In a May 14 blog post, the OpenSea NFT team confirmed adding support for the Abstract blockchain network on its platform. This integration came just a few months after the NFT market platform added support for the Ronin, an Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) blockchain network created by Sky Mavis, the NFT company behind the popular Axie Infinity non-fungible token game.

Launched in 2017, OpenSea is a non-fungible token market platform that allows crypto users to buy, sell, create, and trade NFTs. This platform has rapidly grown to become one of the largest NFT trading platforms, with more than three million active users and a daily trading volume of about $4.5 million as of January 2024. OpenSea is also a non-custodial platform, allowing users complete control and access to cryptocurrency wallets.

On the other hand, Abstract Network is a Layer 2 blockchain network built on top of the Ethereum mainnet, specifically designed to be a consumer-friendly, scalable, and low-cost alternative for blockchain applications. It utilizes zero-knowledge (ZK) rollup technology to achieve high speeds and low fees by processing transactions off-chain and verifying them on Ethereum using ZK proofs.

The Abstract blockchain network was created by Igloo Inc., the parent company of the Pudgy Penguins. Launched in 2021, Pudgy Penguins is a non-fungible token project featuring a fixed set of 8,888 unique, hand-drawn penguin avatars on the Ethereum blockchain network. Each Pudgy Penguin NFT has distinct traits and attributes, making them highly collectible. Igloo is also the team behind Lil Pudgy, an NFT collection featuring a limited edition of 22,222 NFTs.

OpenSea Now Supports 19 NFT Blockchains

Earlier this year, the OpenSea NFT marketplace announced plans to integrate over 20 blockchain networks as part of its broader marketing strategy of making itself the go-to platform for all NFT products. Previously, OpenSea supported 18 different blockchain networks for NFT trading and creation. These include Ethereum, Polygon, Klaytn, Arbitrum, Optimism, Avalanche, Zora, Base, Blast, Sei, B3, Berachain, Flow, ApeChain, Soneium, Shape, Unichain, and Ronin. Opensea now supports 19 blockchain networks.
